Laddering
Target & Go Live
Fresh Gmail
Create or acquire a Gmail account with no GBP/Maps activity. Use mobile app or buy aged accounts.
1
Request Email Code
Start the GBP submission process and request email verification. Use your domain email (e.g., contact@yourdomain.shop).
2
Open the Email
Open the verification email in your webmail — don't enter the code yet. Google may track whether you opened it.
3
Fill Business Profile
Set hours (9-5), write a ~750 char business description via ChatGPT, add all relevant profile details.
4
Pin Drop: Repair Service
Go to Maps > Add Missing Place. Use short name (e.g., "Panara") + easy category. Same phone & website URL.
5
Edit Accepted?
Wait for Google to accept or reject the suggested edit. Work on other listings while waiting. Don't sit around.
6
Step Up: Contractor
Second pin drop — same address, same info, but category changes to Contractor. Climbing the ladder.
7
Edit Accepted?
Wait for the intermediate category edit to be accepted. This builds trust for the final category push.
8
Target: Roofing Contractor
Final pin drop — use full business name + target category. The ladder steps have built enough trust.
9
Enter Verification Code
Go back to your email, grab the verification code, and enter it in the GBP dashboard.
10
GBP LIVE
Your Google Business Profile is now live in your target category. 9 out of 10 times this works.
11
Merge Duplicates
Clean up any duplicate listings created during the laddering process. Merge them into your final listing.
12
Key Principle

Each pin drop builds trust with Google. Starting with an easy category like Repair Service and stepping up to Contractor, then to your target category, avoids triggering video verification or suspension. The phone number and website URL must stay the same throughout the entire process.
